According to paulchristomd.com, over 12 million Americans live with an acquired brain injury. Moreover, every 13 seconds, someone in the U.S. sustains a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Assault, a car accident, or falls could cause TBIs. There are at least 5.3 million Americans that live with a disability as a result of a TBI.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. The purpose of Brain Injury Awareness Month is to bring recognition to the facts of brain injury and let people with a brain injury know that they are not alone. The theme for this year is #ChangeYourMind.

Our Brain Injury Services, formerly TBI Metro Services, have been helping people with brain injuries in the Twin Cities for almost 30 years. We currently serve approximately 130 adults with brain injuries through our offices in Edina and Mendota Heights. Programs include Structured Day, Pre-Vocational, Vocational and Independent Living Skills – all geared to help individuals enhance their skills and gain greater independence.

This month at Opportunity Partners, we will feature some inspiring stories of some people who have sustained brain injuries. Follow us on Facebook to be the first to see!
