For Michelle, her long journey with her team at Opportunity Partners has been worth the hard work and perseverance.
Michelle recently reached her own personal dream when she moved from an Opportunity Partners group home into her own apartment at our hoMEbase apartment program. Through this extraordinary program, apartments are available for those who want to live on their own or with a roommate, while still having the security on-site staff 24 hours a day. Michelle has independence, and when desired also has group meals, activities and social time.
As Michelle’s needs have changed over the years, Opportunity Partners has been there along the way. We provided in-home services when Michelle lived with her mom, and later helped her move into a group home after Michelle’s mom passed away. And finally, when the time was right, we prepared Michelle to move into her own apartment.
With the help of Opportunity Partners, Michelle has made more progress than anyone might have expected.
Today, Michelle’s life is full. She has a dishwashing job at a church, volunteers at a homeless shelter, and works and takes classes at Opportunity Partners. She has a best friend, and she even adopted a cat, Bella. Michelle couldn’t be happier.
