Work Skills Instructor

Title: Work Skills Instructor

Wage: $12.20 per hour

Location: Minnetonka

Hours: Monday-Friday; 7:30am-3:30pm

Purpose: The purpose of this position is to assist and supervise clients assigned to a line to ensure production is completed on time and to the specifications set by the customer and/or Opportunity Partners.  You also may perform the operations necessary to accomplish these goals.


  • Supervise an assembly or kitting line where a group of adults with disabilities complete jobs for different clients
  • Ensure that production flows smoothly and quality is maintained
    • Verify that adequate materials are available
    • Inspect quality
    • Fill in for persons served during short absences
  • Get to know each person’s skills and abilities and match them to appropriate tasks
  • Teach techniques through modeling, verbal instruction, and demonstration
  • Suggest and implement goals for persons served so that they work on skills that will enable them to meet their highest work performance potential
  • Monitor and report production rates and work speeds of those served in our program
  • Maintain safe and orderly work area
  • Assist with creation and implementation of downtime activities to maintain skills levels of persons served


  1. Communication skills, both written and oral, in English
  2. Valid driver’s license and proof of motor vehicle insurance and ability to transport participants in one’s own vehicle and/or company vehicles
  3. Ability to manager challenging  behaviors in the office and community settings.
  4. The ability to understand and effectively use the Foundations interaction style with program participants, interdisciplinary team members, coworkers, supervisors, and other internal and external customers
  5. Mechanical skills and understanding of equipment operations
  6. Basic mathematical skills
  7. Organizational skills
  8. Self-starter
  9. Ability to supervise the work of others
  10. Detail oriented
  11. Ability to deal with a wide variety of people
  12. Ability to understand the abilities and limitations of population
  13. Physical ability to meet the requirements of the position
  14. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
