Independent Living Skills (ILS)
Individuals may use this home and community support service on its own or along with other TBI Metro Services’ programs. ILS provides one-to-one assistance designed to help individuals achieve or maintain independence in the following areas:
- Self Care – food choices, household duties, keeping a schedule, staying healthy
- Communication – identifying roles, building confidence, being a self advocate
- Community Living and Mobility – accessing community resources, getting ready for employment, voting and legal rights, choosing housing
- Reducing/Eliminating Counterproductive Behaviors – understanding vulnerabilities, finding resources, developing strategies
- Sensory/Motor Development – adapting environments, creating accommodations
- Socialization – finding social activities, building relationships
